Dharambir Nain’s path to the top of Paralympic club throw began far from any stadium. Born on 18 January 1989 in Badana village, Rohtak, Haryana, he was paralyzed from the waist down after a diving accident in a canal, a turning point that later led him toward competitive para-athletics. He has also been reported as being from Sonipat, Haryana, in coverage of his career.

At the 2024 Paris Paralympics, Dharambir won the gold medal in the men’s club throw F51 final with a throw of 34.92m, setting a new Asian record in the event. His compatriot Pranav Soorma took the silver medal in the same final, giving India a one-two finish in the category.

Dharambir’s Paris gold followed earlier podium finishes on the world stage: he took bronze at the 2024 World Para Athletics Championships in Kobe. He added to that record with a silver medal at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, continuing his run of results in the men’s club throw F51 category.
