Jonathan ‘Jonnie’ Peacock was born on 28 May 1993 in Cambridge, England. At age five, he lost part of his leg below the knee to meningitis, an experience that led him into Paralympic sport through a talent identification programme.

Peacock went on to compete internationally in the T44/T64 100m sprint classes. At the 2012 London Paralympics, he won gold in the T44 100m final with a time of 10.90 seconds, setting a Paralympic record. He returned four years later to defend his title at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, winning gold again in 10.81 seconds.

In recognition of his services to athletics, Peacock was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2013 New Year Honours list.
